organizations and companies.
In principle anyone can become a customer of dpa.
The dpa website contains details of the range of products on offer
and the right people to get in touch with at dpa.
Does dpa supply information about the Press?
dpa customers do not receive information on the media market in
Germany or abroad. The agency supplies news in the form of text,
pictures, graphics and sound material.
Information on press organs in Germany is available from umbrella
organizations such as the German Federation of Newspaper Publishers (BDZV).
Can I use dpa to distribute press releases?
dpa transmits only texts which have been edited by its staff. When
offering information please get in touch with your local regional
office which will reserve the right to select and amend the material
offered. The addresses of the international editorial departments can
be found here.
How do the dpa editorial departments operate?
The Deutsche Presse-Agentur GmbH employees 900 staff members
worldwide, 800 of them in editorial offices and 150 in its technical,
sales and administrative departments. Several thousand freelance
journalists and photographers gather information at news conferences,
process material supplied to the press and carry out their own
assignments. dpa works 24 hours a day since the flow of news never
diminishes. A high-speed data switching network links the dpa offices
and correspondents around the world to the central editorial
department in Hamburg and the international editorial offices in
Washington, Madrid, Bangkok, Buenos Aires and Nicosia. These control
the flow of news, distributing it to newspapers, broadcasters, TV
stations, online services and other customers by satellite, Internet
(FTP, eMail), ISDN and facsimile.
