The centre of dpa's editorial operations in Germany is in Hamburg where the management executive and editorial heads are also based. This is where dpa's main German Service, the flagship of its newscast range, is produced. Around 300 staff work in the Hanseatic City. The headquarters of dpa's Picture Service is in Frankfurt am Main.

The office in the federal capital Berlin is home to around 100 staff. Not only is a regional service compiled here, around 20 correspondents specializing in federal politics are also based in the city. The photo agency Zentralbild is located in Berlin where all the radio news services are also produced: the dpa-Rufa radio service, hourly bulletins and ready-to-read news packages.

dpa is represented by roundabout 50 regional offices and local correspondents in Germany. The regional offices produce news for the regional news casts and items of national interest are sent to the editorial headquarters using dpa's own domestic data-switching network.
