The dpa brand
We are convinced that an enlightened democratic society needs verified information in order to make good, fact-based decisions. This requires an independent news agency and independent journalists.
As a joint venture of the German media, the German Press Agency (dpa) is committed to the facts, but to not any political leaning or party, to any government, religion or culture, to any company or any other interest group. This has been guaranteed by dpa’s statute since 1949.
Our products help media, companies, and institutions disentangle and make sense of the world’s complexities. Closely networked with our customers, shareholders and selected partners in the media and communications industry, dpa comes up with initiatives, takes the first steps, connects and organizes topics and opens them up for discussion. In this way, dpa is developing into a marketplace for content, technologies, ideas, and collaboration.
Independence
For more than 70 years, we have been working according to the principles laid down in the dpa statute: independent from ideologies, businesses and governments.
Non-partisanship
dpa is strictly non-partisan. We are committed to the facts, but not to any political faction, any religion or culture, or any party, company, or other interest group.
Reliability
Accuracy always comes before speed. Research and verification of information are the essential tools of the trade at dpa.
Careful
We stand for news journalism of the highest quality standards. The four-eyes principle is applied to all dpa texts before they are sent out. We check every news item with the utmost care for accuracy, content and origin before publication.
Credible
Credibility is our most valued asset. The standards and factual accuracy of dpa are inviolable. The transparent handling of errors is the yardstick for journalistic quality.
Networked
As a joint venture of the German media, we see ourselves as a network that develops products, projects and initiatives. Together with customers, partners and shareholders, we are developing into a digital marketplace where this networking occurs. We learn from them and they benefit from us.
dpa is Germany's largest news agency and one of the leading news agencies in the world. In an international comparison, what sets us apart is the independence of our reporting. The majority of news agencies are under government influence or ownership. dpa receives no subsidies or other benefits. We are privately organized and a joint venture of the German media.
We see it as our essential task to ensure independent and fact-based reporting. We see our work not only as a service to our customers, but also as a social responsibility.
Our products help to sort through the complexity of the world. We offer media, companies and organizations news-driven raw material, ready-to-deliver products and appropriate technologies. In doing so, we respond directly to the dynamically changing information society and the needs of our customers, particularly for digitally successful offerings.
The three guiding principles that determine our actions throughout the group are:

Our strategy for the first half of the 2020s is called the "Magic Marketplace." It consists of Magic Services and the marketplaces where the Magic Services take place.
The term "magic" is used to describe services that are easy and intuitive to use and generate exceptional benefit for our customers. Magic Services are like painkillers: They solve concrete problems effectively and quickly. If you use them, your own performance will improve noticeably. Magic Services are exclusively geared to increasing customer benefits while offering an exceptionally good user experience.
To this end, we are developing into a central marketplace for the media and communications industry. In today's digital world, clients are often simultaneously suppliers, partners and part of a larger ecosystem. That's why, as a marketplace, we connect our own and third-party, existing and new products. As well as tools, technologies and expertise.
